Cal’s Morikawa leads by one stroke at Kaanapali Classic

California’s Collin Morika­wa took a one-shot lead in the Kaanapali Collegiate Classic men’s golf tournament Saturday, shooting a 3-under-par 68 at the Royal Kaanapali Course for a 10-under total of 132.

Morikawa, ranked seventh in the country by Golfweek, had five birdies and two bogeys in the second round.

Kansas’ Andy Spencer had the low round of the day, a 65, and was tied for second with South Carolina’s Scott Stevens (68).

Cal’s K.K. Limbhasut and LSU’s Philip Barbaree each shot 68 to end the day at 135.

Wyoming’s Drew McCullough, the first-round leader, had a 73 and was one of four players at 136.

Hawaii’s Justin Arcano, one of three Baldwin High School graduates in the field, carded a 73 that left him tied for 34th at 142. Gonzaga’s Tyler Munetake (79) was in a group at 148, one shot ahead of Hawaii’s Justin Ngan (73).

LSU had a 9-under 275 to take the lead in the team standings. The Tigers, ranked No. 10 in the nation, were at 543, three shots in front of 12th-ranked Cal (280), the first-round leader.

Hawaii’s main team shot 307 and was tied for 18th at 593. The Rainbow Warriors’ B team was last among the 21 teams at 606 after a second straight 303.
