Payne, Devault bow out of Hawaiian Pro in third round

Dusty Payne of Lahaina and Imaikalani Devault of Makawao were eliminated from the Hawaiian Pro on Sunday with fourth-place finishes in their third-round heats at Alii Beach Park in Haleiwa, Oahu.
Payne had a 5.97 in his heat, which Puerto Rico’s Frederico Morais won with a 13.84. Brazil’s Yago Dora (11.47) also advanced at the Triple Crown event, part of the World Surf League qualifying series, and Australia’s Dion Atkinson was third with an 11.40.
Devault had a 9.14 in his heat, finishing behind Brazil’s Filipe Toledo (16.04), Tomas Hermes (10.47) and Lucas Silveira (9.14).
