UH falls to USC to close Rainbow Wahine Showdown

Kristen Simon had 25 points and Minyon Moore added 20 to lead Southern California to a 71-60 victory over the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team on the final day of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown on Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Lahni Salanoa had 17 points and Tia Kanoa had 10 points and nine assists for the Rainbow Wahine (4-3), who dropped their second straight.
The game was close early, with several lead changes and ties. UH tied it up at 25-25 with Lauren Rewers’ layup with 8 minutes, 44 seconds left in the second quarter, but Simon’s two foul shots a few seconds later gave USC the lead for good.
The Trojans (7-0) led 46-32 at the half and stretched their lead to 18 in the fourth.
Aliyah Mazyck scored 16 points for USC.
Hawaii next hosts Montana State on Dec. 4 and Idaho State on Dec. 8.
