Altura claims six golds at state age-group championships

Hawaii Swimming Club’s Kysha Altura won six events in the girls 17-18 division at the Hawaiian Swimming State Short Course Age Group Championships, held Friday through Monday in Kailua-Kona.

Altura posted a time of 51.44 seconds to win the 100-yard freestyle and had a 1:51.63 in winning the 200 free. She also doubled up in the butterfly, winning the 100 (57.04) and 200 (2:09.75). She also won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.81 and the 100 backstroke in 57.23.

HSC teammate Jasmine O’Brien picked up wins in the girls 15-16 500 (4:58.82) and 1,650 freestyles (17:13.14), while Kamille Pellettieri won the girls 13-14 100 (1:09.51) and 200 breaststrokes (2:23.89).

Lahaina Swim Club’s LT Stancil also won two events, taking titles in the boys 11-12 50 (32.58) and 100 breaststrokes (1:09.47).

Other winners from Maui included Lahaina’s Lexi Anderson (girls 15-16, 100 butterfly), Maui Swim Club’s Kaimi Matsumoto (girls 15-16, 200 backstroke), Lahaina’s Slater Fleck (boys 13-14, 500 freestyle), HSC’s Carl McNabb (boys 13-14, 1,650 freestyle), Maui Dolphins Swim Club’s Ryan Wise (boys 11-12, 50 freesyle) and MSC’s Kaysa Ong (girls 10 and under, 100 breaststroke).
