Kamehameha rallies to beat King Kekaulike

The Maui News – Kaylee Cambra and Ashley Peralta each scored 19 points to help the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls basketball team rally past King Kekaulike 55-53 in a Maui Interscholastic League game on Wednesday evening at Na Alii’s gym in Pukalani.

The Warriors (3-1) were trailing 46-42 after three quarters before outscoring Na Alii 13-7 in the final frame.

Cambra hit the last of her three 3-pointers and had five points in the fourth quarter.

Namahana Keao-Young led King Kekaulike (3-3) with 19 points, hitting three 3-pointers.

At Kahului, Susitina Namoa posted 18 points, including 14 in the first half, to lead the Lunas to their 141st straight MIL victory.

Braeanna Estabillo added 10 points for Lahainaluna (7-0), which led 31-18 at the half.

Kamaile Cugal had a team-high six points for the Sabers (1-5).

At Pukalani, Kamalu Segundo made three 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as the Warriors won their MIL opener.

Austin Peters added 14 points for Kamehameha Maui.

Darius Lauture scored 20 points and Richard Chun had 10 to lead Na Alii (0-3).

At Kahului, Iverson Turno had 15 points to help the Lunas (3-0) hand the Sabers’ their first loss of the season.

Cley Josef Palma added 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers, and Aukai Kama scored 10 for Lahainaluna.

The Sabers (2-1) got 12 points from Chey Higashiguchi and 10 from Scott Magno.
