Eight Maui players will take part in the U.S. Club Soccer’s National Identification & Development (id2) Program to be held Thursday through Sunday in Casa Grande, Ariz.

The players were among 25 selected from around the state after taking part in Player Development Program showcases on Oahu and Maui in October.

Among the girls chosen were midfielders Lauren Mitra of Valley Isle SA and Teani Arakawa and Kaehukai Kaaihue of the Maui Cobras; and defender Sofia Stupplebeen of Hawaii Rush SC. Boys selected were FA Maui defenders Evan Wellerstein and Edward Hudcovic, Maui United goalkeeper Waikili Chappell and FA Maui forward Kayden Medeiros.

The id2 program gives players the opportunity to work with high-level coaches while competing with and against other top players, and also be scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s national team programs.
