Kyle Sparks and Ryan Chang each fired 38 to lead the Seabury Hall boys golf team to a 158-184 win over Kamehameha Maui in a Maui Interscholastic League match on Wednesday at The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course.
David Pierce shot 40 and Hudson Jackson fired a 42 to account for the counting scores for the Spartans (2-0). Daniel Graziano’s 49 was the discarded score for Seabury Hall, which also had nonscoring 59s from Daniel Judge and J.P. Hill.
Kamehameha Maui (0-3) was led by Dane Abarra’s 42, while Jordan Mitsumura fired a 46, Puniawa Vedder had a 47, Kody Cambra shot 49, and Marcus Ayau shot 51 for the noncounting score. Hoku Nagamine, a Kamehameha Maui girl golfer, shot 41.
Maui Prep Boys 178, Lahainaluna 188
At the Kapalua Bay Course, Na Pueo improved to 3-0 behind a 36 by Beau Johnston and Hunter Holland added a 40.
Akiva Bluh shot 49 and Griffin Gibson 53 for MPA, which also had a nonscoring 77 from Jerome Samari.
Matt Ramelb shot 39 and Jensen Powley 41 for the Lunas (0-3), who also got a 48 from Jonas Marcial and a 60 from Kaito Nishiji. The Lunas nonscorer was Josh Gutierrez, who shot 66.
Maui High boys 173, King Kekaulike 225
At Waiehu Municipal Golf Course, the Sabers (3-0) rolled past Na Alii (0-2) behind Marlon Bottorf’s 38, Jordan Terada’s 40, and Asher Aspili’s 42. Kaleb Makimoto’s 53 finished the Maui High scoring.
King Kekaulike counted 55s from Trevor Onaga and Patxi Laborde, while Kynan Ledee had a 57, and Kapono Mossman a 58. Playing as nonscorers for Na Alii were Alohi Dela Cruz (60), William Kahalekasi (63), and Ian Mantupar (86).
