Lunas close with win over Na Alii
The Lahainaluna High School softball team nailed down second place in the final Maui Interscholastic League Division I game of the regular season with a 19-3, four-inning win over King Kekaulike on Saturday at Patsy Mink Field.
The Lunas (7-5) scored in each inning, including eight times in the top of the fourth to take a 19-0 lead. Kaaina Kalanikau led Lahainaluna’s 11-hit attack with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Daisha Dagdag knocked in three runs with a double and a triple.
Seraya Casco tossed a complete-game five-hitter with four strikeouts for Lahainaluna.
The Lunas play third-seeded Kamehameha Maui in the MIL tournament semifinals on Thursday.
King Kekaulike finished the regular season 2-10 and will face Maui High in the play-in game on Wednesday.
