MIL judo season gets underway

Baldwin High School’s Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp defeats Molokai’s Payton Kaalekahi in their girls 139-pound match in the first Maui Interscholastic League judo meet of the season Saturday at Shine Matsui Athletic Center in Kahului. Estrella-Beauchamp, a state champion in wrestling, won the division Saturday. While none of Saturday’s girls winners were defending MIL champions, four boys title holders picked up season-opening wins — Kamehameha Maui’s Ezekiel Matutino (108 champion) at 114, King Kekaulike’s Aiden Hanley (114 champion) at 121 and Maui High’s Aden Molina (198 champion) at 220 and Chance Rodrigues at 285.
