Spartans, Na Alii advance to MIL semifinals
Skylar Lickle scored five goals to help lead the Seabury Hall water polo team to a 17-4 victory over Kamehameha Maui in a Maui Interscholastic League tournament first-round match Friday at Kihei Aquatic Center.
The third-seeded Spartans (7-4) got three goals apiece from Aryana Johnson and Chiara Pogacic. They will face second-seeded Lahainaluna in the semifinals today at Kihei.
The Warriors finish the season at 0-11.
In the other first-round match Friday, No. 4 seed King Kekaulike defeated No. 5 Maui High 10-3.
Kalena Vaivai had three goals and Taitum Jones added two for Na Alii (6-5), who face top-seeded Baldwin today.
Na Alii’s Kianna Correa stopped 10 shots on goal by the Sabers (2-9).
Following the morning semifinals and a consolation match, the MIL tournament championship will be played at 1:45 p.m.
