Valle falls in Bellator debut

Baldwin High School graduate Tiani Valle of Kula punches Keri Melendez during their strawweight preliminary fight at Bellator 201 on Friday at the Pechanga Casino Resort in Temecula, Calif. Valle, making her Bellator debut, fell to 1-1 as a professional fighter with a submission loss to Melendez (2-0).

SECOND PHOTO: Melendez wins by rear-naked choke at 2 minutes, 46 seconds in the first round.

THIRD PHOTO: Oahu’s Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is proclaimed the winner of her flyweight title fight against Alejandra Lara (7-2) in the main event. Macfarlane (8-0), in her first title defense, won by submission via armbar at 3:55 in the third round.
