Toluta’u named MVP
Vili Toluta’u, a 2012 Baldwin High School graduate, was named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Major League Rugby championship series after leading the Seattle Seawolves to the title in a 23-19 win over the Glendale Raptors in San Diego on Saturday.
“Thanks to the boys for backing me up every time,” Toluta’u said in a post-game interview on CBS Sports Network after receiving a watch for his award. “I messed up on one of the shifts, but everybody came up, they came and they filled up my gas tank, and I kept on going, so thanks to the boys.”
The championship match honors for Toluta’u followed him being named first team all-MLR at blindside flanker on Tuesday.
He recently represented the USA in an international win over Canada and last month he graduated from Central Wasington University.
