Sabers deal Bears 3-0 defeat
Erikah Dowells had solid games of 200, 158 and 162, and the Maui High School girls bowling team handed Maui Interscholastic League-leading Baldwin a 3-0 loss Saturday at Maui Bowling Center in Wailuku.
Hailey Chun bowled a 158 and Eternity Taclan Chang had a 155 for the Sabers (8-7). The Bears (12-6) were led by Alyssa Riglos (148), Victoria Leong (144, 133) and Jailee Fujita (135).
In the boys match, Baldwin improved to 13-5 with a 3-0 win over Maui High (2-13).
Kainalu Torres-Estores had games of 170 and 157, Dallen Silva bowled a 157 and 149, and Sheriff Brown posted a 122 for the Bears. Zachary Domingo had a 187 and 144, and Isaiah Chee added a 156 for the Sabers.
Also on Saturday, the King Kekaulike boys and girls picked up 3-0 victories over Kihei Charter.
The MIL-leading Na Alii boys (15-0) got a 211 from Trevor Onaga, a 177 from Dillon Ikeda and a 157 from Mark Gudmunson. Otis Freeman had a 95 and Nicholas deLaveaga had an 85 for the Tiger Sharks (0-12).
In the girls match, Tanisha Valdez led Na Alii (8-7) with a 139. Mahiole Austring posted a 129 and Emma Gudmunson had a 128.
Kihei Charter (1-11) got a 133 and 126 from Maile Coulter and 108s from Victoria Fonville and Rebecca Austin.
