Dragons sweep Farmers to grab MIL’s second D-II state tournament berth
The Hana High School girls volleyball team defeated Molokai 26-24, 25-19, 25-18 in the Maui Interscholastic League Division II second-place playoff Saturday at “The Barn” in Hoolehua.
With the win, the Dragons earned their seventh straight trip to the D-II state tournament, which begins Wednesday on Oahu.
Hana (12-4) entered the MIL tournament as the No. 3 seed and defeated second-seeded Molokai (10-4) twice in a span of three days — the Dragons beat the Farmers in the semifinals Thursday before losing to Seabury Hall in the tournament championship on Friday — to extend its season.
Statistics for Saturday’s match were not reported.
The Division I state tournament starts Monday with the first round. MIL runner-up Kamehameha Maui hosts Moanalua at 5 p.m.
