Kiffmann Taekwondo earns 11 medals in Vegas

The Maui News – Kiffmann Taekwondo of Kahului won five gold medals in Las Vegas at the 2018 World Taekwondo President’s Cup earlier this month.

In the black belt boys 8-9 years old, 30-kilogram division, Ka’ale Mailou Kaiwi earned a gold medal after receiving a bye in the semifinals and winning the final.

In the black belt Olympic qualifier, Miles Kiffmann won his first bantam weight match against Gabriel Marques from Brazil, but lost to William Da Silva in his next contest.

Competing in the junior fin weight division, Jerico San Agustin defeated Alejandro Carmona Magana of California before losing to eventual silver medalist Jake Seo.

In the color belt sparring event, Kiffmann Taekwondo had 10 competitors earn medals.

Earning gold medals was Jan San Agustin (15-17 jr female), Kiarie Lei Kaina (6-7 girls), Hi’alo Mailou Kaiwi (6-7 boys) and Kaeo Kaina (10-11 boys).

Krisitina Duarte (6-7 girls) was one of four to take a silver medal. She was joined by Andre AJ Valdez (6-7 boys), Lesili Bertelsen (10-11 boys) and Tama Bertelsen (6-7 boys).

Radyn Yap earned a bronze medal in the 10-11 boys division and Duarte got a bronze medal in the breaking division.
