Na Alii, Spartans both lose at state soccer
The Maui Interscholastic League champions King Kekaulike High School and Seabury Hall boys soccers teams both lost quarterfinal matches at The Queen’s Medical Center/HHSAA state tournaments on Thursday on Oahu.
In Division I, Liam McGehee scored both goals for Mililani in the Trojans’ 2-0 win over No. 2-seeded Na Alii (8-1-2). McGehee scored on a penalty kick in the 34th minute and added the second goal in the 69th minute in the match at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
Mililani (14-1-0) advanced to the semifinals today at 5 p.m., while King Kekaulike will play in a fifth-place semifinal at 3.
Seabury Hall (0-10-1), the MIL’s only Division II team, lost to No. 2 seeded Kapaa 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
The Spartans’ goal came from Josh Farwig, while Kapaa got goals from Kaiana Oliver and Kaden Donner.
Seabury Hall will play in a fifth-place semifinal today against Waialua at 3 p.m.
