Rainbow Warriors sweep Matadors, run sets streak to 51

Fifty-one and counting.

The second-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team continued its perfect start to the season Saturday with a sweep of No. 12 Cal State Northridge at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 victory was the Rainbow Warriors’ 17th straight three-set win to start the season.

Rado Parapunov had 17 kills and two aces to lead UH, which improved to 4-0 in Big West Conference play. Dalton Solbrig added 10 kills.

King Kekaulike High School alum Colton Cowell had nine kills, nine digs, two blocks, an assist and an ace for the Rainbow Warriors.

Dimitar Kalchev led the Matadors (10-10, 0-4 Big West) with nine kills.

The Rainbow Warriors next head to Provo, Utah, to play in the BYU Invitational. They face McKendree on Thursday, Princeton on Friday and the No. 9 Cougars on Saturday.
