Hanneman finishes equal-third in Tahiti

Lahaina’s Eli Hanneman bowed out in the semifinals of the Air Tahiti Rangiroa Pro on Thursday in Rangiroa, French Polynesia.

Hanneman defeated Kauai’s Chris Foster 12.60-8.47 in the quarterfinals of the World Surf League Qualifying Series 1,000 event before losing to eventual champion Gavin Gillette of Kauai, 13.77-9.43.

Hanneman’s equal-third finish is his best on the QS — he also finished third at the Hello Pacitan Pro in 2017.
