Molokai reaches state volleyball quarterfinals

Shaelyn McCutcheon had 11 kills for the Molokai High School girls volleyball team in a 23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 15-5 win over Kohala on Wednesday in a New City Nissan Division II State Championship first-round match at the Kaimuki gym in Honolulu.
Precious Rawlins had 15 digs and 23 assists for the Farmers (10-3), who will face top-seeded Hawaii Baptist, the defending champion, in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Shania Fuertes had nine kills for the Cowgirls (13-8).
Third-seeded Hana, which received a first-round bye, will play Thursday at St. Francis against Le Jardin, which beat Honokaa 25-13, 25-7, 25-9.
