Na Pueo move to 5-1 with win over Sabers

Beau Johnston fired a 37 and Adam Quandt a 39 to lead the Maui Preparatory Academy boys golf team to a 166-172 win over Maui High on Saturday at the Kapalua Bay Course.

Hudson Holland added a 41, while Griffin Gibson shot 49 for Na Pueo, which improved to 5-1 in Maui Interscholastic League play while dealing Maui High its first loss.

The Sabers (3-1) got a 36 from Jordan Terada, while Marlon Botorff had a 41, Asher Aspili shot 45 and Joshua Lee fired a 50.

Maui Prep next faces Kamehameha Maui on March 8 at Kapalua, while Maui High plays the Warriors on Wednesday at The Dunes at Maui Lani.

SEABURY HALL BOYS 167, ST. ANTHONY 196

At Waiehu Municipal Golf Course, the Spartans beat the Trojans behind Kyle Sparks’ 38.

Daniel Graziano added a 41 for Seabury Hall (2-0), while Ryan Chang and Hudson Jackson each had 44s.

The Trojans (2-4) were led by Chad Lee’s stellar 2-under-par 34. Noah Miller had a 40, Noah Dods 50 and a non-player 72.

The Spartans next face Lahainaluna on Wednesday at Kaanapali, while the Trojans take on Baldwin at Waiehu.
