Wichita State rallies past Cal to reach Maui Invitational semifinals
Wichita State rallied from 18 points down to beat California 92-82 on Monday in the opening round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Shaquille Morris scored 25 points for the Shockers (3-0), ranked sixth in the country by The Associated Press.
Done Coleman scored 35 points for the Golden Bears (2-2).
Wichita State will play a semifinal game Tuesday against Marquette, which beat Virginia Commonwealth 94-83.
Markus Howard had 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Golden Eagles (2-1).
The Rams (2-2) got 17 points from Malik Crowfield.
VCU and Cal will meet in a consolation game.
LSU also reached the semifinals, defeating Michigan 77-75.
Tremont Waters scored 21 points for the Tigers (3-0), who had trailed by nine with just over five minutes remaining.
LSU will play No. 13 Notre Dame in the semifinals. Michigan (3-1), which got 28 points from Charles Matthews, will face Chaminade.
The Fighting Irish beat the Silverswords 83-56.
Matt Farrell scored 27 points for Notre Dame (4-0), and Bonzie Colson had 23.
Erik Scheive scored 17 points for Chaminade (2-1).
