Rainbow Warriors sweep Waves, into MPSF semis

Stijn van Tilburg had 14 kills, hitting a blistering .619, as the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team swept Pepperdine 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation quarterfinal Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Tilburg also had 10 digs, five blocks and two aces for the fourth-ranked Rainbow Warriors, who advance to face BYU on Thursday in Long Beach, Calif.
Kupono Fey finished with 14 kills, six blocks, eight digs and two aces for UH (25-4).
The Rainbow Warriors outhit the Waves .344 to .095 for the match, and also outblocked them 17.5 to 2.
David Wieczorek led Pepperdine (10-12) with nine kills.
During the regular season, Hawaii was swept twice by BYU in Provo, Utah. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals by sweeping Stanford.
