Rainbow Wahine’s rally falls short at Irvine

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team outscored UC Irvine 23-10 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Rainbow Wahine lost 70-66 on Saturday in Irvine, Calif.

Sarah Toeaina had 19 points, making 13 of 14 foul shots, and nine rebounds for UH (8-11, 1-5 Big West). Amy Atwell added 15 points and Makenna Woodfolk had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Morgan Green led the Anteaters (11-8, 3-2) with 27 points.

The Rainbow Wahine return home to face Cal State Northridge on Thursday.
