Middap leads Rainbow Wahine to victory over Long Beach State

Courtney Middap hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points as the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team defeated Long Beach State 63-49 on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Wahine (11-13, 7-4 Big West Conference) and 49ers were tied at 29 midway through the third quarter before UH pulled away to take a 40-35 lead into the fourth. Hawaii outscored Long Beach 23-14 in the final period.

UH was 12 of 22 from the field (54.6 percent) in the second half, helping overcome its 20 total turnovers.

Makenna Woodfolk scored 12 points and Leah Salanoa had 10 points and six rebounds for UH, which next hosts UC Irvine on Thursday.

Justina King had 16 points to lead the 49ers (7-17, 4-7).
