Purchase has record-setting night, UH routs Riverside

Jack Purchase scored 23 points on the night he became the University of Hawaii’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, and the Rainbow Warriors dominated UC Riverside 87-64 on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Purchase came into the game with 180 3s made in his UH career, tied with Zane Johnson for the school record. The 6-foot-9 senior forward from Melbourne, Australia, wasted no time as he hit the record-breaking shot just over a minute into the game. He finished with five 3s, nine rebounds and an assist.

Brocke Stepteau added 17 points and Eddie Stansberry scored 15 for the Rainbow Warriors (16-9, 7-4 Big West Conference), who never trailed and led by as many as 29 points.

Dikymbe Martin had 22 points to lead the Highlanders (9-18, 3-8).

UH next plays at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday.
