Northridge spoils UH’s Senior Night, 84-73

Terrell Gomez scored 32 points as Cal State Northridge spoiled Senior Night for the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team by defeating the Rainbow Warriors 84-73 on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Jack Purchase led UH (16-12, 7-7 Big West Conference) with 20 points and seven rebounds, but the Rainbow Warriors were unable to match the hot-shooting Matadors.

Northridge shot 50.8 percent (32 of 63) from the field, including 43.8 percent (7 of 16) from the 3-point line. Gomez hit five 3-pointers.

Lamine Diane added 25 points for the Matadors (13-17, 7-7). Drew Buggs had 11 points, and Zigmars Raimo, Eddie Stansberry and Brocke Stepteau each scored 10 for Hawaii.

The Rainbow Warriors finish the regular season on the road against UC Davis on Thursday and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
