Two dead in Honolulu house fire

HONOLULU (AP) — Fire officials say two people, an adult and a child, have been found dead after a fire at the home of a Honolulu police officer. Honolulu Acting Police Chief Jonathon Grems says in a statement the department is supporting the officer during “this heartbreaking tragedy.” The department isn’t releasing the officer’s name. Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant says firefighters responding to the Wednesday blaze in Kaimuki found two people dead. He says the adult was found in the garage and the child was found in the living room. He doesn’t yet know their ages or genders. Seguirant says the fire at the single-story house on Luakaha Street was reported a little after 8 a.m. and has been extinguished. He says it’s not clear if anyone else was in the home at the time of the fire.
