COWBOY UP AND CATCH THE 63RD MAKAWAO RODE0 AND RODEO PARADE.

If you’re a fan of the paniolo mystique, you won’t want to miss this annual Upcountry tradition presented by Maui Roping Club. Held at Oskie Rice Arena, the weekend features bull riding, steer chasing, horse racing and other rodeo staples, plus musical entertainment each night and Saturday’s much-loved Makawao Rodeo Parade. The excitement kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the arena with the Grand Entry followed by Bull Bash, a popular event that challenges even the toughest of rough riders, at 7 p.m. Saturday’s parade steps off at 9 a.m. along Baldwin Ave. in the heart of town with this year’s Grand Marshall Frank Crozier. Pick up rodeo action again at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Oskie Rice Arena. Bull Bash tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the gates. Rodeo tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for seniors and students; keiki 10 years and younger admitted free. You can also purchase a weekend pass for $25 at Minit Stop.
