COLD MOON DANCE PARTY AT UPTOWN

Mana’o Radio invites the public to its first ever Cold Moon Dance Party in Paia at Uptown, 109 Baldwin Ave., from 5-9 p.m. Celebrate the final full moon of 2019 with a dance party DJ’d by five of Mana’o Radio’s on-air hosts: Sarahtonin, Duncan Mack, BEYONZO, Chris Ca’ryn and Krysti Kicks. Uptown located at 109 Paia Baldwin Ave. Cover is $5 at the door with all proceeds benefiting listener-supported Mana’o Radio. The music will kick off around 5 with dancing in the courtyard out under the stars until around 9. Food will be available on-site courtesy of Maui Roasted Bistro.

REBELUTION AND THROUGH THE ROOTS

California reggae band and touring juggernaut Rebelution, along with special guests, Through the Roots, will perform at the Yokouchi Pavilion & Courtyrad at MACC. Gates open at 7 p.m. and show begins at 7:30. Rebelution is comprised of singer/guitarist/lyricist Eric Rachmany; keyboardist Rory Carey; drummer Wesley Finley; and bassist Marley D. Williams. Their 2016 studio album, “Falling Into Place,” became the band’s fourth release to top the Billboard reggae chart, earning them their first ever Grammy nomination in the category of Best Reggae Album. LAHAINA 2ND FRIDAY CELEBRATES HOLIDAYS

Lahaina 2nd Friday celebrates the holiday season from 5 to 8 p.m. Complimentary live performances with Maui Jam Band will take place on the main stage at Campbell Park from 5 to 7:30 p.m., along with a keiki zone, local shopping, world-renowned art galleries, and food vendors.

FINAL WEEKEND FOR ‘MATILDA: THE MUSICAL’

Maui OnStage continues “Roald Dahl’s Matilda: the Musical.” Music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, book by Dennis Kelly, directed by Jennifer Rose, choreographed by Camille Romero, and under the musical direction of Robert E. Wills. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 6 p.m. Sunday at Historic Iao Theater. Tickets range from $20 to $40. 2 RENOWN POETS WILL TAKE STAGE TOGETHER

The Merwin Conservancy presents Robert Hass & Forrest Gander as part of its ongoing Green Room series at 7 p.m. in MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. Renowned poets and translators, Hass and Gander take the stage together for an evening immersed in the power of language in honor of the organization’s founder, the late W.S. Merwin. Hass, a poet, essayist, and translator, won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 2007, served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 1995-1997, and was therecipient of a MacArthur “genius” grant. Gander won the 2019 Pulitzer for poetry and has degrees in both geology and literature. The presentation will be followed by a book-signing at a courtyard reception with light dessert provided and drinks available for purchase. All profits from the event benefit the local nonprofit Merwin Conservancy. Tickets: $25 & $10/special student price with ID (plus applicable fees). All attendees are invited to stay for the post-event hosted reception included in the ticket price.

SEWELL AND GUSEV COLLABORATION

Russian cellist Georgy Gusev teams with Maui artist Tom Sewell for a unique multimedia collaboration at 7:30 p.m. at ProArts Playhouse in Kihei. A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Gusev has performed at major music festivals and events worldwide. Making his Carnegie Hall debut in 2018, he has created a new soundtrack for Sewell’s “Enigma” multimedia installation. Tickets are $50. Call 463-6550.

RON ARTIS II AND THE TRUTH TO PERFORM

Ron Artis II and his band, The Truth, perform at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. His 2018 debut album, “Soul Street,” crystallizes the full range of his influences: Delta blues and gospel, northern soul and R&B, alongside in-depth and personal lyrics. His band, The Truth, includes brother Stevon on drums. Tickets: $26, $31 (plus applicable fees).

MAUI IMPROV PLAYERS WILL TAKE THE STAGE

Maui Improv Show special Saturday night performance at ProArts Playhouse in Kihei with visiting New York City guest performer Rick Andrews and Maui Improv Show Co-founder and Artistic Director Mark Beltzman. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7. No advance ticket sales; first come, first seated. Admission is $10 and $5 each with “Bring a Friend Pricing.”

NIGHT WITH DRAKE BELL AND GUESTS

DaJam 98.3 & HI Tide Nation present A Night with Drake Bell, plus guests Nara Boone and Indio of Obsidian Soul at Casanova in Makawao. Doors open at 9 p.m., music at 10. Bell is an internationally recognized actor and musician. He is most recognized for his role as Drake Parker on the hit Nickelodeon series “Drake and Josh” and the voice of Peter Parker on “The Ultimate Spiderman.” Tickets: $20 and $25. $30 at door. HOLIDAY POPS WITH TWO SPECIAL GUESTS

Holiday Pops with David Benoit & Sara Gazarek will take place at 3 p.m. in Castle Theater at MACC. Under the baton of music director James Durham, the 50 plus member Maui Pops Orchestra extends an invitation to ring in the holiday season with a festive concert featuring David Benoit and Sara Gazarek. Half of the concert will be purely orchestral renderings of familiar holiday music, and the other half will feature three-time Grammy Award nominated pianist, David Benoit, returning to the Castle Theater stage. Music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be part of this program, which will also feature vocalist Sara Gazarek. Tickets: $22, $35, $50, $60 (plus applicable fees). Half-price for students 18 & under with ID except for $22 seats. Patrons who purchase tickets to all four shows in the Maui Pops series (Dec. 15, Jan. 26, Feb. 23, and March 8) will receive a 10 percent discount off each ticket.
