WORLD PREMIER OF ‘THE RELUCTANT ELF’

FREE HAWAIIAN STYLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions will present a Hawaiian Style Christmas at the Picnic for Poki concert at 11 a.m. at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town, 103 South High St. Featured guest playing Christmas classics and Hawaiian favorites on ukulele and u-bass will be Mele Fong and Richard Tom — The Hawaiian Serenaders. They will also feature hula dancers from Kaunoa Senior Center. Richard Tom and Mele Fong perform a variety of Hawaiian, hapa haole, pop, and jazz favorites with a specialty in nostalgic boat days music. Roselani Place will have fresh baked cookies, coffee, and water. Attendees are advised to bring a lawn chair or mat and their lunch. Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen “Braddah Poki” Pokipala. Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music and culture through various venues in Hawaii. For more information, call 871-7720.

THE KINGSTON TRIO ON 60TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Kingston Trio performs at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. The trio will perform many of their best-loved songs as they rediscover their timeless music on their 60th anniversary national tour. Tickets: $30, $45, $65 (plus applicable fees; 10 percent discount for MACC members).

MAPA TO PRESENT ‘THE NUTCRACKER’ AT MACC

Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ “The Nutcracker” production will be staged at 7:30 p.m. today and 3 p.m. Saturday in MACC’s Castle Theater. MAPA presents “The Nutcracker” in holiday style. With sets and costumes, some new and some old, it’s the classical story reimagined in a fresh and exciting new way. Tickets: $24, $30, $18/keiki 12 and under (plus applicable fees).

HAPPY HOLIDAYS WITH HENRY KAPONO AT MACC

Henry Kapono will celebrate the holidays with an evening full of his music at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. Kapono will perform songs from his “Merry Christmas to You” album as well as C&K classics like “Sailin’,” “Friends,” and “Highway in the Sun.” The Native Hawaiian and Grammy- nominated artist is a multiple award-winning vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and composer. Tickets: $30, $45, $65 (plus applicable fees; 10 percent discount for MACC members).

CHAMBER ORCHESTRA PERFORMS AT IAO

The Maui Chamber Orchestra and Chorus, under the direction of guest conductor Stephen Spinelli, presents “And on Earth, Peace” concerts at Historic Iao Theater on today at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3. Guest soloists include Amber Naramore and Chad Somers, in a festive program of Bach (“Brandenburg Concerto No. 3” and “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”), Mozart (“Regina Coeli”), Vaughan Williams (“Fantasia on Greensleeves”), and Rutter (“Shepherd’s Pipe Carol”). A “Talk Story with the Artists,” will take place on Sunday at 1:30. Tickets range from $10 to $55. Call the Iao box office at 242-6969.
