Willie K & Friends BluesFest happens Saturday at MACC’s A&B Amphitheater/Yokouchi Pavilion. Alice Cooper, Mick Fleetwood and Dave Mason will join Willie K. Gates open at 5 p.m.

TOMMY EMMANUEL AND SPECIAL GUESTS

Tommy Emmanuel will appear at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s Castle Theater with special guests Frank Vignola and Vinnie Raniolo. At 44, Emmanuel became one of five people ever named a Certified Guitar Player by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. He plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year, from Nashville to Sydney to London. Tickets: $25.50, $30.50, $40.50, $55.50 (plus applicable fees).

FRIDAY, JAN. 3

NEW YEAR THEME FOR FIRST FRIDAY

The Von Linne Express will be the opening act at Upcountry Sundays from 2-5 p.m. Sunday.

Wailuku First Friday presents a “Happy New Year” themed street fair from 6-9 p.m. on historic Market Street. There will be live music and entertainment, art, local shopping, and a variety of food and drink. The Maui Thing stage will feature Leomana from 6 to 7:30 and Na Wai Eha from 7:30 to 9. The Banyan Tree stage will showcase Luna Overdrive from 6 to 9.

OLD DOMINION PLAYS AT A&B AMPHITHEATER

Old Dominion will perform in the A&B Amphitheater. The show begins at 6:45 p.m. Gates open at 5:30. The band will appear with special guest, Morgan Evans. Old Dominion, has emerged as one of the hottest bands in country music, fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound. The band just won its third Vocal Group of the Year Country Music Association award. With special guest, Morgan Evans. Tickets: $45, $55, $65, $85, $125 (plus applicable fees).

WILLIE K & FRIENDS BLUESFEST AT MACC

Willie K & Friends BluesFest take place in the A&B Amphitheater/Yokouchi Pavilion at 6 p.m. Gates open at 5. Join Willie K and his Warehouse Blues Band as he hosts special guests for an evening of blues, rock, and more. Guest artists include Gretchen Rhodes, John Akapo, and the Deborah Vial Band, with special appearances by Alice Cooper, Dave Mason with more artists to be announced. Tickets: $10 (kids 2-12/general admission), $40 (adult/general admission), $65, $85 with a limited number of $250 VIP packages (plus applicable fees) VIP tickets include: premium seat, meet & greet with some of the artists, access to the Yokouchi Courtyard bars and restrooms, Willie K CD, and souvenir commemorative lanyard/VIP pass.

PAULY SHORE COMEDY SHOW AT IAO THEATER

THREE BANDS AT UPCOUNTRY SUNDAYS

Mana’o Radio’s monthly Upcountry Sundays show at Casanova will feature classic country and rock, Upcountry style with Kaina Kountry, and Maverick, featuring Greg DiPiazza and Joel Katz, with drummer Josh Greenbaum playing originals and classic rock and blues. The Von Linne Express will open the show which runs from 2-5 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door with all proceeds benefiting Mana’o Radio.

MONDAY, JAN. 6

FINE WOODWORKING TOPIC OF FREE TALK

Wood Shops and Projects, an exhibit-related presentation, will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Alexa Higashi Meeting Room at MACC. A panel of artists, including Dean Plover, Tai Lake, Paul Schurch, and Koji Tanaka, will discuss topics of interest about the process, tools, techniques, and fine art of woodworking. Free admission.

TUESDAY, JAN. 7

EXHIBIT SHOWCASES FINE WOODWORKING

The Woodworker’s Journey: Concept to Creation opens at Schaefer International Gallery. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Feb . 23. (Also open before Castle Theater shows and during intermission). An exceptional group of 25 artists from Hawaii and the mainland U.S. with distinguished careers in woodworking, each make one new piece for this exhibition. The work may be utilitarian or conceptual in design, with a refined conventional appeal or freeform fusion approach, using wood as the primary material. Free admission.
