Must Go: Eric Gilliom explores identity through the lens of Hawaiian history, contemporary culture, and family in “White Hawaiian.”

THURSDAY, FEB. 6

HAWAIIAN COWBOY SONGS AND STORIES

“Paniolo – Stories and Songs from the Hawaiian Cowboy,” a play from Moses Goods, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s Castle Theater. The play explores a remarkable period in Hawaii’s history, from Ikua Purdy winning the 1908 World Roping Championship to the way traditional Hawaiian values and practice integrated with the paniolo lifestyle. Joining Moses onstage is Hawaiian singer/songwriter Kapono Na’ili’ili who brings to life the music of the paniolo, drawing on his own childhood experiences growing up within the Hawaiian culture and lifestyle. Tickets: $28, 10 percent discount for MACC members and half-price for kids under 12 (plus applicable fees)

ERIC GILLIOM BRINGS BACK ONE-MAN SHOW

One Night Only players will stage “Shakespeare . . . in pidgin,” a Booga Booga style comedy reading adapted from James Grant Benton’s “Twelf Nite O Whateva.”

Actor/musician Eric Gilliom stars in an original one-man theatrical show, “White Hawaiian,” co-created by writer/director Brian Kohne (Kuleana) at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in MACC’s McCoy Studio Theater. Gilliom explores identity through the lens of Hawaiian history, contemporary culture, and family. Tickets: $25, $35 (plus applicable fees; 10 percent discount for MACC members).

‘I HEART WAILUKU’ FIRST FRIDAY THEME

Wailuku First Friday presents “I Heart Wailuku,” a free family event from 6-9 p.m. on historic Market Street. Enjoy live music and entertainment, art, local shopping, and a variety of food and drink. Maui Thing Stage will feature Jay Auweloa from 6-7:30 and Na Wai Eha from 7:30-9. Luna Overdrive will be on Banyan Tree Stage from 7:30-9. MAPA is holding two free public performances of the educational touring show, “Birds of a Feather” written by Kathy Collins. Performances will be held at the MAPA Warehouse, 2027 Main St. at 6:15 and 7:30. Maui OnStage presents “Xanadu” preview in the Historic Iao Theater at 6:30.

SATURDAY, FEB.8

BHAGAVAN DAS AND AMULYA MAA

Ecstatic Kirtan & Sound Journey with Bhagavan Das and Amulya Maa will take place in Paia today and Sunday. The first part will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Heritage Hall, and the second part will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Maui Yoga Shala. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. today at Heritage Hall for “Ecstatic Devotional Kirtan,” $25. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Sunday for “Nada Yoga: Sound Journey,” $75.

SUNDAY, FEB. 9

CHAMBER ORCHESTRA MUSIC FOR FOUR VOICES

Maui Chamber Orchestra presents “Music for Four Voices: Love, from the Renaissance to Broadway” at 3 p.m. in Kihei Baptist Chapel. The concert features three of Maui’s most versatile singers — Molly Schad, Tracey Bloser and Gary Leavitt — joined by Chad Somers of Martinez, Calif., a Juilliard-trained tenor who made his debut with MCO in December. Collaborating with them from the piano will be Lotus Dancer and John Rowehl. Tickets are $30 ($20 for seniors, $10 students), at mauichamberorchestra.org.

DEBORAH VIAL BAND PLAYS BENEFIT SHOW

Rare opportunity to catch the Deborah Vial Band in a benefit for Mana’o Radio at Charley’s Restaurant in Paia. Also on the bill: The Dog Walkers and Marisa Corvo and Vicci Stewart. Show from 2 to 5 p.m. for $10 at the door, all benefiting the radio station.

MONDAY, FEB. 10

BOOGA BOOGA STYLE COMEDY READING

“Shakespeare . . . in pidgin,” a Booga Booga style comedy reading adapted from James Grant Benton’s “Twelf Nite O Whateva” will be staged by One Night Only players at 6:30 p.m. at Iao Theater. Admission is free. Booga Booga was a popular comedy ensemble in the 1970s and ’80s.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE REMEMBERING RAM DASS

A celebration of the life of Ram Dass (Richard Alpert), 3 to 5 p.m. at Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Castle Theater. Seating is general admission and there is no charge to attend. Doors will open at 2:30 with the program beginning at 3. Should the Castle Theater reach its maximum capacity, no others will be allowed in after that time. Out of respect for all, seating is for those who are physically in attendance — no saving of seats for anyone not in the Castle Theater or on the MACC property. Complemtary desserts, chai tea, lavender lemonade and mint lemon water will be made available by Maui Kombucha beginning at 2. Gathering will feature some of Dass’ longtime collaborators, teaching colleagues and close friends.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 12

LEELA DANCE COLLECTIVE TO PERFORM AT MACC

Leela Dance Collective – SPEAK: A Kathak and Tap Collaboration begins at 7:30 p.m. in MACC’s Castle Theater. The principal artists are senior disciples of Chitresh Das, dedicated to preserving the rich legacy they have inherited and to innovating the art form of kathak. Bound by rhythmic improvisation, the dancers are accompanied by Indian classical and jazz musicians. Tickets: $35, $50, $65; 10 percent discount for MACC members and half-price for kids under 12 (plus applicable fees.
