Thank You Letters

The National Association of Letter Carriers in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service would like to express a sincere “Thank You,” to our Maui postal patrons, community volunteers and the H.P. Baldwin High School ROTC students for their support in our 26th annual NALC food drive which was recently held on May 12. This is the largest single-day food drive in the nation with more than 220,000 letter carriers in over 10,000 cities and towns across the U.S. collecting food donations in a major effort to fill food banks and pantries for the summer months when children are out of school and will not be receiving school lunches. This year on Maui, with the assistance of our sister union the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, we collected 45,013 pounds of food and $909 in monetary donations. This will help the Maui Food Bank provide approximately 36,024 meals for those in need in our island community. Again, mahalo nui loa for filling those blue bags and making this food drive a complete success in Maui County.

On behalf of King Kamehameha III Elementary School, I would like to thank T-Mobile for the exceptionally generous donation to our school! Each year, T-Mobile recognizes men and women doing great work by sending them to Maui, and extra gifts from the trip were donated to our kids.

We plan on using the gifts to support our curriculum, as well as having some fun in the water. The students are so excited! Again, a huge mahalo to T- Mobile.
