• Keiki late summer/fall art class “Animal Kindness Club” with Barbara Steinberg will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays, through Nov. 7 at Maui Bridge Club, Kenolio Recreation Center, 131 South Kihei Rd., Kihei. “Dr. Dolittle Meets CSI on the Coral Reefs of Maui” talk with Bob Richmond, Ph.D., will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific Whale Foundation’s classrooms, lower level of the Ma’alaea Harbor Shops, 300 Maalaea Rd., Maalaea. Dr. Richmond’s talk will explain how his team is using diagnostics and forensics to identify causes of stress to Maui’s reefs at Olowalu, Waihikuli, and Honokowai, along with ways to enhance the reef’s resistance to these stressors. ** “Government Contracting 101” with Joey Tavares will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Are you a small business owner who is interested in securing government contracts here on Maui? In this workshop, you will learn about the basic requirements needed for doing work with the government. As a participant in this workshop, you will learn about the mandatory registration requirements and special certifications that could give you an edge, including how to find what the government is looking for.
