Sugar Beach Events will launch the Maui Culinary Theater from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 28 as a benefit for Hawaii Alzheimer’s Association chapter.

Located at 85 North Kihei Road in Kihei, Sugar Beach Events will add this culinary theater to its ongoing lineup of stellar event and cooking classes.

In this innovative dining experience, Owner-Chef Lee Anderson will be on stage in a live cooking show preparing a lavish as well as beautifully choreographed multi-course meal.

Watch with anticipation as gourmet dishes are prepared and techniques are revealed right before your eyes.

“I would like to personally invite you all to this really important fundraising event for the Hawaii Alzheimer’s Association at Sugar Beach Events,” says Anderson. “My mom has Alzheimer’s, and I know first hand what it’s like for a family to suffer through this horrible disease.”

Anderson looks forward to seeing supporters of the cause attend the event.

“It’s going to be amazing,” she says. “You will be the first to experience our new theater show, and all of the food proceeds will go to the Hawaii Alzheimer’s Association chapter.”

Joining Chef Lee will be her husband, Carl Anderson, who is also the Sugar Beach Events’ resident beverage specialist. Carl will share insights and subtle nuances of each of the specially selected beverages chosen to pair with each course. Keeping the evening fun and rolling will be DJ Dan Viola, who will act as emcee and comic relief.

In addition, there will be a fabulous view from every seat in the house.

The dining room will be equipped with several large-screen televisions so you get a clear view of the show, no matter where you are sitting. Microphones will also be used to make sure everyone can clearly hear all the goings-on.

Sugar Beach Events claims that Maui Culinary Theater is the first of its kind in the state, a melding of dining and entertainment.

At the launch party, the feast includes a five-course menu that will both enthrall your mind and satiate your taste buds.

“The menu is based on the Mediterranean diet, which is recommended for those with Alzheimer’s,” she says.

The first course is Indian raita with pita and hummus. The second course is seared scallop on a rosemary skewer with mango oil and pita dust.

The third course takes taste buds to Athens with a Greek salad featuring an assortment of olives drizzled with a fresh herb vinaigrette. The fourth course is olive-oil poached fish with caper-lemon sauce paired with millet, eggplant, red peppers and zucchini. As icing on the cake, the fifth course is a dessert of olive oil cake with raspberries and oranges
