Currently under the direction of Iolani Yamashiro-Rahimi, the orchestra will perform works by Bach, Beethoven and Wagner, along with lighter works including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Por Una Cabeza” and a tribute to Whitney Houston.

This concert is dedicated to Lance Jo, co-founder and first conductor of MYPO, who died on Feb. 23. Jo influenced thousands of students throughout his 39 years teaching high school band at Maui High and Baldwin. After retiring from the Department of Education, Jo continued influencing lives as the first MYPO conductor from 2005 to 2017. The students of MYPO will honor his legacy of love for his students and for his dedication to music.
