Champagne Hale and The Hideaway serve up fresh evening repasts
Looking for an out-of-the-ordinary spot for a relaxing pau hana? If you’re on the westside or enjoy a nice afternoon drive along the pali, stop by the Champagne Hale at Cliff House or The Hideaway at Kapalua Bay, both at Montage Kapalua Bay.
Now through Sept. 1, experience an exclusive oceanside pop-up bar and lounge nestled on the cliffs of Namalu Bay. Every Thursday through Sunday, from 4 to 7:30 p.m., the Champagne Hale at Cliff House serves light bites of big eye tuna tartar with shaved radish, local avocado and ginger dressing; Kualoa oysters with Champagne mignonette, hot sauce and citrus; and classic deviled eggs with fennel, dill and trout roe. Dessert offerings of Maui vanilla panna cotta topped with lilikoi gelee, mango and blackberries or buratta toast with pickled Kula strawberries, pistachio pesto and lemon offer a sweet finish to the evening.
Veuve Cliquot will be poured to satisfy a parched throat. Select from a myriad of options including by the glass, in rich cocktails, by the bottle and even a customized tasting of two or three two-ounce pours. Specialty cocktails are available upon request.
The Champagne Hale at Cliff House offers a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the finest sunsets Maui has to offer. Open to guests 21 years or older.
If you’re not into bubbly or are looking for more substantive dining choices, you are still in the right vicinity. Montage has recently unveiled The Hideaway at Kapalua Bay, which offers a casual setting and serves local fare and island-inspired cocktails.
The perfectly curated menu pays homage to traditional comfort food with pupu or light-bite selections including classic chicken wings, coconut shrimp satay and shrimp cocktail martini-style. For a bit heartier of an appetite, choices include a classic Wagyu hamburger or sourdough flatbread. For more adventurous tastes, nibble on blistered shishito peppers with Surfing Goat “ranch” dressing or spiced malasadas with Maui Gold pineapple jam.
The signature cocktails present creative spins on classic drinks including a “Lilikaloma” made with Cazadores Reposado Tequila, Giffard Creme de Pompelmousse Rose and passionfruit, or the “Bee Keeper” featuring Val’s Botanical Gin, absinthe, moringa, honey and lemon.
Both venues at Montage are walk-in only. The Hideaway is open to all.
