100 Years Ago

1919 — Once more Maui was triumphant and has proved her supremacy in another line – that of athletics, by beating and beating badly the Honolulu tennis and bowling stars who came down to compete for honors at the Puunene Athletic Club’s Harvest Home day.

75 Years Ago

1944 — Curfew violators seemed to take a liking to Provost Judge Capt. Raymond C. Weber as a record crowd of “court customers” greeted him in his second session here after a record throng of night-hawkers welcomed him to the Maui bench a week ago.

50 Years Ago

1969 — Three Explorer Scouts and two leaders from Troop 120 entered Olowalu Valley at 6 a.m. on Saturday and made the tortuous transit to Iao Valley, coming out 49 hours later.

25 Years Ago

1994 — Within a month or two, Maui County officials will be presented with a short list of locations for a second commercial harbor. They are Paukukalo, Olowalu, Ukumehame and Maalaea.

10 Years Ago

2009 — The county will post the names of delinquent taxpayers in an effort to recoup more than $8.6 million in unpaid real property taxes. The list of names would be posted on the county’s Real Property Tax website.
