Rock band War is coming to the MACC in December

The rock band War will be performing at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 28 with a dance floor added for the show.

The performance at the MACC is part of the Grammy Award winning group’s 50th anniversary tour. The crossover band that fused rock, jazz, funk, Latin and rhythm and blues sold more than 50 million records with hits such as “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “Cisco Kid.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee with 17 gold, platinum and multiplatinum records currently consists of founding band member Leroy “Lonnie” Jordan (keyboard and vocals), Stuart Ziff (guitar and vocals), Marcos Reyes (percussion), Scott Martin (saxophone), Stanley Behrens (harmonica, vocals and saxophone), Rene Camacho (bass) and Sal Rodrigues (drums).

Tickets go on sale for MACC members today and to the general public on Oct. 5. They are $15, $40, $55, $65, $85 with a limited number of premium $125 seats, plus applicable fees. MACC members receive a 10 percent discount.
