Hui Holidays and First Night will return to visual arts center

Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao has announced the dates for Hui Holidays 2019 and First Night.

Hui Holidays will feature local and handmade items Nov. 20 to Dec. 24 with extended shopping hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Hui gallery shop will expand and feature artworks in many mediums, including one-of-a-kind handmade gifts by Maui artists and crafters, paintings, ceramic pieces, hand-blown glass ornaments, jewelry and locally made beauty products.

Hui Holidays First Night Celebration will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4. Guests can do their holiday shopping. Holiday decor of the Kaluanui Estate will feature a handmade paper dress by Maui artist Taylor Binda.

First Night guests will have first access to the Hui’s handmade wreaths as well as First Night vendors. Tickets for First Night, a 21-and-older event, are $35 per person and available at huinoeau.com or by calling 572-6560.

Hui Holidays is made possible with support from the county Office of Economic Development.

Hui No’eau is a nonprofit, community-based, visual arts education organization offering open access to visual arts instruction by professional teaching artists and arts opportunities through year-round youth and adult art classes, exhibitions, outreach programs and community art events. The Hui is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission.
