Maui author launches keiki book Friday

The Maui News

Local Maui Writers Ink artist and author Nansy Phleger will launch her children’s book, “Li Chou and the Dragon’s Promise,” at LahainaTown’s Second Friday event Friday in Campbell Park beginning at 5 p.m.

The story takes place amid heavy snows in northern China, where a small boy must enter the forest to gather firewood despite reports of a resident monster.

Lahaina resident Howard Fields joins the Local Authors Table with his latest book, “High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” which details his coverage of the Nixon impeachment while he was a journalist for United Press International.

Maui authors will sign purchases, including two Maui Writers Inks anthologies, “Short Stories and Poems” and “Supernatural Tales.”

The books are also available at the Visitors Center at the the Old Lahaina Courthouse, and the Maui Friends of the Library bookstores at both The Wharf Cinema Center and Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.
