Updated 1:30 p.m.: Richard Kealoha-Kaauwai fails to return to MCCC after given 3-day release
Maui sheriffs were looking for Richard Kealoha-Kaauwai, who was given a three-day release from Maui Community Correctional Center to attend his father’s funeral and did not return as ordered Monday, the state Department of Public Safety said Tuesday.
He was being held for violating terms of his probation for abuse of a family/household member and promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree, court records show.
Kealoha-Kaauwai is 27-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 145 pounds. He has brown eyes and hair.
A court ordered the temporary, three-day release for Kealoha-Kaauwai on Friday to attend to the personal matter. He was scheduled to return to Maui Community Correctional Center at 5 p.m. Monday but did not.
Maui police and state sheriffs were notified Monday of his failure to return, the Public Safety Department said.
If Kealoha-Kaauwai is seen, the public is urged to call 911 or state sheriff’s at 586-1352.
