• The Ka`anapali Beach Hotel recently named three new hires: Jason Kayatani as director of restaurants, Marissa Ugale as catering sales manager and Angelo Sicad as junior sous chef. The three roles serve the hotel’s food and beverage program, as well as its dining outlets comprising Tiki Terrace, Tiki Bar & Grill, Legends of Ka`anapali Lu`au and Sunday Champagne Brunch, according to a Tuesday news release.

Kayatani brings more than 20 years of experience in Hawaii’s restaurant and hospitality industry. Ugale has been in the hospitality industry for more than 40 years, with more than 26 of them in a management position. Sicad earned his associate’s degree from the University of Hawaii Maui College and worked as a Star Noodle line cook.

Coinciding with the hires, the grill added new menu items, and the terrace expanded its wine and cocktail list.

• Maui mediator Tricia Morris has been invited to participate in an expert panel of mediators in Los Angeles, an Oct. 25 news release said.

Morris, a nationally certified mediator and adviser, will join recognized mediator and author Kenneth C. Cloke, for the roundtable discussion, “Mediation and the Path to Reversing Polarity.”

Morris plans to use information from the forum in her mediation practice and welcomes community feedback on ways to cultivate mediations. To contact her, email triciamaui@aol.com.

• Maui-founded Destination Residences Hawaii, a collection of vacation rental residences and condominium resorts, recently announced the appointment of Stephanie Sisneros as director of association management and Flynt Payne as general manager of Destination Residences Kona-Kohala, an Oct. 16 news release said.

Founded on Maui in 1986, Destination Residences Hawaii, part of Destination Hotels, includes residences throughout independent resorts in Wailea/Makena, Lahaina and Kaanapali, along with locations on Hawaii island and Kauai.
