Ipu Decorating Workshop at Maui botanical gardens

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will host an Ipu Decorating Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kumu Lisa Schattenburg-Raymond will teach the traditional Niihau style of processing fresh ipu (gourds), decorating and drying. Workshop participants will be able to create their own ornamental patterns based on traditional Hawaiian designs, and learn about native ipu dyes and dye methods.

Reservations are required. The fee is $100 for garden members and $125 for visitors. All materials are included. Call 249-2798 or email info@mnbg.org for details.
