Maui Fil-Am Heritage Festival seeks sponsors
The 2015 Maui Fil-Am Heritage Festival presented by the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Maui Mall.
“The festival is part of the monthlong celebration of October as Filipino-American History Month,” said Melen Agcolicol, president of the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
“We’re happy to present this family-friendly festival again and we’re honored to be able to share Maui’s rich Filipino-American heritage.”
The festival will feature Filipino restaurants selling Filipino food; Filipino businesses selling Filipino goods such as handicrafts, Christmas ornaments and attire; Maui businesses; entertainment featuring Filipino dances, songs and music; and a variety of events such as the Master P-Noy Chef Cook-Off, the Speedy Balut Eating Contest, the P-Noy Artist Contest, the Little Filipino Fashionista, the Filipino Fashionista, the We Got History Exhibit, the Oh Wow@Parol Making Contest and the Polvoron Challenge: Eat & Tweet, said Alfredo Evangelista, event chairperson. “We’re also accepting sponsors for the festival,” added Evangelista.
