Two Maui girls receive Ki-Aikido Youth Award

Two Maui Ki-Aikido youths have been chosen as the 2015 recipients of the Shinichi Suzuki Sensei Ki-Aikido Youth Award. Brianna Leval and Fiona McGrath will each receive two Hawaii Ki Federation seminars with all expenses paid, along with other dojo training fees for one year.

The youth award is given annually, based on several criteria that include a strong level of interest and effort in training, a commitment to dojo service, and a respectful and supportive attitude toward their dojo, their teachers and their fellow students.

The annual award was created in 2003 to honor the founder of Maui Ki-Aikido, Shinichi Suzuki, who died in 2009, for his dedication and outstanding leadership in the development of Aikido in Hawaii, as well as in honor of his then-50th year of teaching at the Maui dojo.

More information about the youth and adult programs of Maui Ki-Aikido can be found at mauiaikido.com or by calling 244-5165.
