Rotary Club announces Palaka Awards finalists

The Rotary Club of Kahului has announced its six finalists for the 2015 Michael H. Lyons II annual Palaka Awards. The finalists are community volunteers who embody the memory of Mike Lyons’ legacy of living the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” according to an announcement.

The finalists are: Linda Howlet (Maui Academy of Performing Arts); Hal Jobe (Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Maui OnStage, Hui No’eau, Maui Humane Society and Imua Family Services); Matson Kelley (Maui OnStage, Maui Bar Association, Maui County Bench-Bar Committee); Robert Rowland (March of Dimes, Seabury Hall, Hale Makua, Maui Pops, Hui No’eau); Hilton Unemori (Boy Scouts of America, BSA Regional Rep, BSA Pacific Basin Scouting, Camp Maluhia); and James Worley (Ka Hale A Ke Ole, Hospice Maui, Maui Economic Development Board, Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Maui Chamber of Commerce).

The finalists will be honored at the annual Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Awards Luncheon and Golf Ball Drop on Aug. 28 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club Clubhouse.

All six finalists will be celebrated immediately following lunch.
