Talk story events about native species, watersheds

The East Maui Watershed Partnership and Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center will host a talk by Fern Duvall, Maui Nui program manager for the Department of Land and Natural Resources/Division of Forestry and Wildlife Native Ecosystems Protection and Management, from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao.

It is part of an ongoing “Talk Story Thursdays” environmental lecture series in conjunction with Malama Wao Akua 2015, Maui’s only juried art exhibit celebrating native species of Maui Nui.

There will also be a Malama Wao Akua Keiki Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the arts center on Saturday that will feature games and crafts for children to learn about Maui native species and watersheds.
