Kihei Public Library offers free programs for children

Kihei Public Library will present the following free programs this month. All programs will be conducted in the children’s area; young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver:

* Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – “Spooky Science.” The Maui Science Center will present a hands-on science and technology experience that will encourage exploration, investigation and wonder. This two-hour program is suitable for children ages 5 and older.

* Oct. 27, 7 p.m. – Pajama Storytime. Children ages 3 to 7 are invited to wear pajamas and fuzzy slippers, bring a favorite teddy bear, and enjoy an evening of Halloween-themed stories and fun.

* Oct. 28, 3 p.m. – “Wonderful Wednesday: Calling All Young Volunteers!” Children ages 5 and older who are willing to volunteer their time and talents are invited to help library staff prepare and assemble trick-or-treat bags for upcoming storytimes, and have fun with other projects as well.

* Oct. 29, 10:30 a.m. – Toddler Trick-or-Treat Storytime. Toddlers are invited to wear their nonscary costumes for a gentle Halloween Storytime followed by an in-library trick-or-treat parade.

Call the library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for these programs.
