Seabury Hall’s golf tournament fundraiser generates $14,000

The Seabury Hall 21st annual Benefit Golf Tournament, presented by Browning and coordinated by Seabury Hall’s Alumni Association, took place Sept. 12 at the Wailea Blue Golf Course. The record-breaking fundraiser generated over $14,000. Event proceeds will be invested in the keiki of Maui in the form of financial aid for incoming students, scholarships for Rising Seniors, and support for the athletics program at the school.

“I now realize that we, my peers and I on Maui, are not alone in this world, and that everyone around us hopes to see us succeed,” said Seabury Hall senior Emma Pilotin, a recipient of a Rising Senior Scholarship.

Each year the Seabury Hall Alumni Association allocates a portion of the event proceeds to the Rising Senior Scholarships. The purpose of this scholarship is to acknowledge, encourage and reward rising seniors (current 11th-grade students) who have demonstrated leadership, fulfilled their academic potential and served their community during their high school career.

The golf tournament attracted 136 players and was supported by sponsors and prize donors from all over Maui. Event Chair Kaimanamalie Lee Brummel was elated with the tournament’s results. “The success of this event is the perfect example of community and corporations coming together to invest in the future of Maui,” said Brummel. “In addition to the Seabury Hall staff and families who volunteered at the event, we would like to express our thanks to the event’s 47 sponsors, 38 prize donors and 21 alumni participants who made it all possible.”

Tournament participants were treated to a breakfast sponsored by Rising Sun Solar & Electric and an awards luncheon at Manoli’s that was sponsored by the Lunch Bunch, a group of longtime Seabury Hall supporters, and Aaron Placourakis of TriStar Restaurants.
